constitution vs parliament

learnt an interesting thing today about the Indian Constitution.

The Indian Constitution closely follows the the British Parliamentary model, but differs from it in one important respect that is, the Constitution is supreme, not the Parliament. So the Indian courts are vested with the authority to adjudicate on the constitutionality of any law passed by the Indian Parliament.

i always thought that the parliament was the supereme thing, they passed a law and nobody could question that, except, of course, another session of the parliament. It feels good to know that the court can interfere in this regard. Thank goodness..and thank Ambedkar and team for ensuring this.

Its really gud that u bothered abt Contitution-which is the Soverign .
Parliament..is just a body of represenatatives who put up our views ..as we all indians cant be accomodated in (550+250) Parliament.

n ya there are PILs (Public INterest Litigation) which can be filed by any citizen, in case they have objections to the matter of socity, country laws...

n i wud opine..Indian laws are most kool..after all Indian Constitution is largest constitution ever existed.

US has only 7 articles..in constitution!!
