Maine Pyar Kiya
Was just watching the movie. I first saw this movie on a Weston Black & White tv on a Diwali night in the early Nineties. Those were the days when a recent hit movie on DD1 was an annual feature; and with little or no advertisements. So watching the movie reminded me of those beautiful old days; jab apan nanhe munne aur pyare se they...and most importantly innocent they. The only loud noise that I knew on that Diwali night was the noise of a bidi bum and an aaloo bum...not that of Saki Naka traffic! I was reminded of the times of Chhathh when we used to go to river banks at 4 in the morning and used to love it, surrounded by family, friends, good folk music and joy. Today, I don't remember the last time I saw sunrise; don't have any records of the traditional folk music; let alone participating in those big family gatherings. Well, I guess that all happens with time and I am able to accept it. The thing that I don't like is that slowly I have grown insensitive and emotionless. The tendency of seeing nafaa-nuksaan in everything has grown. Being a little tough in today's ruthless world is required; but at the cost of losing the human inside you - that frightens me. Perhaps that is why I still find stupid things to laugh at and let my imagination run wild and try to let myself loose when that child inside me wants to play (note the "try" in the last of the three activities). I hope this helps me be what I want to be at the end of the day - a good natured, companionable human being. The sad part is I am fully aware nobody can be just that in today's world.

the best times
A tribute to the best times we ever had, by a friend
Today, as i have just woken up, i secretly want someone to ask me,
"bf?" in a chat window. I want someone to come to my room just to
enter, sit, see me chatting or watching a movie and then leave without
making a single remark. I want to go to a room adjacent to mine and
complain about the kind of songs/movies/videos he likes. I want to
shout from one end, asking some stupid question to a person, about
something which even a dumb a$$^@!& can answer. I wish someone came
to my room or i might have gone to his room and asked "sutta hai?" and
most probably the answer from either side would be, "tck". I wish i
could go and lay on one bed which is small for even one person with 4
others. Oh!!! I wish i could do this all, one more time.

chhathh and our culture
Just went out of my room to go to the bathroom and heard chhathh songs floating in the air and pathakas being cracked. Its the final day of the festival when people offer prayers to sun god at dawn. I was flooded with the memories of my childhood when I used to visit my maternal grandparents' place or my aunt's place during chhathh. We used to go to the ghats on this morning and people would go knee deep in chilling water and pray for their sons/daughters to the sun god. pathake phodo , prasad khao...Man those were the days.
these are small bits of happiness which bind me to my place and these are why I intend to spend my life in India, close to where I belong.
